November 6, 2006 Town Council Meeting

Notes of the November 6, 2006 Town Council meeting incorrectly quoted the remarks of Supervisor Wanda Thornton regarding groundwater.   The original text as it appeared on this website described groundwater withdrawal in terms of gallons per day.  It should have read gallons per year.

The published text on Chincoteague Reports has been corrected to read:

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has approved a permit for a farm east of Accomack to withdraw 150 million gallons of water per year from the aquifer.   The original request was 344 million gallons of water per year.

Chincoteague Reports regrets any misunderstanding that may have come from this error.

October 2, 2006 Town Council Meeting

The notes of the October 2, 2006 Town Council meeting contain an error.

In the section titled  Public Participation, Chincoteague Reports incorrectly recorded Mr. Anthony Smith's first name as Matthew.  The original post has been corrected.

The text now correctly reads as follows.

Anthony Smith
, who is a U.S. Marine, told the Council that he was stationed in Iraq during Pony Penning.  At that time he requested that a U.S. Flag flying over his unit headquarters be donated to the Town of Chincoteague.  He presented this wartime Flag to the Mayor.

Chincoteague Reports regrets the error.
